Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. continues building of gas ferries
On 25th of July construction of the first from the new series gas powered car – passenger ferry has begun.
The vessel will be built for the one of the biggest communications providers In Norway.
Positive experiences from the exploitation previously delivered ferries as well as good opinion which REMONTOWA SHIPBUILDING enjoys on Scandinavian market caused that the Owner once again has ordered construction of new modern gas powered ferries.
The ferries will serve public transport along Norwegian coast. The area of ferries’ exploitation requires using innovative technology enabling to reduce emission of NOx and SOx to the atmosphere. The vessels, powered exclusively by gas will be among the biggest ones in their class belonged to the group called
‘green ships‘. The currently built ferries taking on board 165 cars, will replace three smaller ones taking on board 110 cars. The higher service speed will also increase Owner’s transportation possibilities. It is worth to note that ferries at about 124 m in length can be operated at reduced to minimum number of crew. It is possible thanks to the most modern automation systems which will be applied and consequently will lead to a reduction in the costs of exploitation
Construction of new series of modern gas ferries confirms that REMONTOWA SHIPBUILDING S.A. is one of the biggest and most important European shipyards building vessels equipped with the latest “green propulsion” systems.
