Another Chapter in the Delivery of the CMAL Contract

Today, Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. marked two significant milestones in the construction of its new ferry series: the keel-laying ceremony for the third vessel, B621/3, and the launch readiness of the first vessel, B621/1. These achievements represent further progress in the contract for the construction of seven double-ended, battery-electric passenger and vehicle ferries for the Scottish shipowner Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL).

The ferries are being built as part of CMAL’s fleet renewal. The vessels will operate on nine local routes connecting the islands of the Hebrides, providing low-emission transport for residents and visitors alike. Today’s ceremony confirms that the project is progressing steadily in line with the agreed schedule. Each successive construction milestone brings the delivery of the first vessels closer, with the ferries set to enter service and serve Scotland’s island communities from 2027.

This contract is the largest passenger ferry series ever undertaken by Remontowa Shipbuilding, both in terms of the number of vessels and the overall contract value.

The successful execution of the project further strengthens Remontowa Shipbuilding’s position in the international market for modern low-emission vessels and confirms the shipyard’s expertise in the construction of technologically advanced ships.
