On 14 January 2026, Remontowa Shipbuilding held a ceremony to christen and launch the second in a series of radio-electronic intelligence ships, which was named ORP Henryk Zygalski. Beata Jurkowlaniec was the godmother.
The ships of the DELFIN programme are being built under a contract signed by the Armaments Agency with the general contractor Saab Kockums AS, which commissioned their construction to Remontowa Shipbuilding, part of the Remontowa Holding group.
– The satisfaction of our direct client, SAAB Kockums AB, the Armament Agency and the Navy, is our priority, and I am convinced that this will remain the case until the end of the DELFIN programme, as it has been so far, said Dariusz Jaguszewski, CEO of Remontowa Shipbuilding.
– I would like to thank the Armament Agency for its trust and for ordering the most modern intelligence ships in the DELFIN programme, as well as for continuing its cooperation with our shipyard, which, after many years, has returned to its role as a proven supplier to the Polish Navy. I make no secret of the fact that we are counting on further opportunities for cooperation, and I am already declaring our readiness for further projects,” emphasised Dariusz Jaguszewski.
The launch of a vessel is a significant milestone in its construction, following the first steel cutting and keel laying, which took place in November 2023 and January 2024, respectively.
– We are proud to be the main contractor for this project. We signed the contract in November 2022 and, thanks to our cooperation with Remontowa Shipbuilding in particular, we have reached this stage in a very short time, said Lars Brännström, Vice President of SAAB Kockums AB.
The ship was named ORP Henryk Zygalski in tribute to the outstanding Polish mathematician and cryptologist who helped break the German Enigma code in the 1930s.
On 1 July 2025, the first SIGINT-class ship, ORP Jerzy Różycki, was christened and launched. Both ships will be equipped with advanced radio-electronic systems to capture reconnaissance data across the full range of maritime signal intelligence (SIGINT).
