New contract

On 23rd of September, the Armament Inspectorate of Polish Ministry of Defence awarded Consortium led by Remontowa Shipbuilding and consisting also of other Polish naval cluster companies ie.: OBR Centrum Techniki Morskiej and Naval Shipyard, the contract for design and delivery of new minehunters under “Kormoran II”.

The contract is divided into agreement for protype vessel with delivery in November 2013 and contract for two subsequent vessels, subject to delivery of prototype vessel.

Remontowa Shipbuilding established in 1945 is the prime supplier of naval vessels for Polish Navy. The return to close cooperation with Ministry of Defence is significant achievement for the Yard, especially in light that this project if forerunning project for Polish Fleet Renewal Program.

The ship is dedicated to minehunting tasks in Polish EEZ, as well as in tactical task forces in Baltic and North Sea and other auxiliary tasks defined by MoD. The vessel will be designed with great care to achieve low signature and high maneuverability, thanks to use of cycloid propellers driven by diesel engines.
