The construction of “KORMORAN II” has begun

„Kormoran II” keel laying ceremony was held at Remontowa Shipbuilding on 23 of September 2014. The ceremony has been attended by Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defence – Mr Czesław Mroczek.

Contract for delivery the mine hunter was signed between Armament Inspectorate of Polish Navy and the Consortium headed by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in September 2013.

Contract includes construction of prototype ship which is supposed to be delivered in fourth quarter of 2016 and two next ships which will be delivered after the first one.

Keel laying is important milestone ending the phase of prefabrication of the hull and starting the stage of assembly.

The ship is dedicated to mine hunting tasks in Polish Economical Zone, as well as in tactical task forces in Baltic and North Sea and other auxiliary tasks defined by MoD. The vessel is designed with great care to achieve low signature and high maneuverability. The ship will be operated by 45 persons crew.
