We hosted the NATO Ship Design Capability Group

On Wednesday, 18 March 2022, representatives of the NATO Ship Design Capability Group – SDCG, invited by the Polish Navy, paid a visit to the Remontowa Holding group shipyards in Gdansk. In the Remontowa Shipbuilding yard, they familiarised themselves with the vessels designed and built here for the Polish naval forces.

SDCG is part of the NATO Naval Armaments Group – NNAG. The Remontowa Holding Group shipyards visit was part of an SDCG meeting held between 16-20 May this year in Gdansk, held by Poland’s Naval Inspectorate, which represents the Polish Armed Forces in many NATO working groups.

SDCG members, including engineers and ship designers, officers and civilian representatives of navies, defence ministries and other NATO services from several European countries, but also the USA, Canada  and Japan, got acquainted with the production and design potential of Remontowa Holding Group companies in the field of construction and modernisation of vessels, both military and civilian.

At the Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. yard, they visited the ORP Albatros (602) minehunter, which is undergoing delivery tests. They also embarked on the tugboat Mieszko – one of a series of six auxiliary vessels that the shipyard delivered to the Navy in the years 2020 – 2021.

Next, onboard ORP Albatros, they sailed to the Remontowa Shiprepair Yard S.A. in Gdańsk, where they saw its infrastructure, ships at docks and quays, and learnt about the projects carried out there.
